Nomen est omen.
Carnuntum wine growing region is named after the antique Roman town that spanned today's communities Petronell and Bad Deutsch Altenburg, where in Roman times wine was cultivated. In one way it stands for centuries of tradition in a unique climatic and geological island that many consider one of Austria's most enticing red wine appellations. At the same time it stands for the esprit and innovative mind of the local winegrowers who draw attention onto themselves not only through their wines but also with the annual big event "Carnuntum Experience". What that means, and more, can be looked up here.
